Sun Prairie blasts Middleton

First time getting to see Middleton this year and unfortunately for them they were severely outmatched. This game was only going to get as bad as Sun Prairie wanted it to go. Middleton was missing their top scorer in 6'4 senior Brogan Brunker for whatever reason and one of their other top players with some size 6'5 senior Davis Roquet battled foul trouble and maybe played 10 minutes of game action. Middleton did their best to slow the game and hit some threes but. on the defensive end they just couldn't compete with Sun Prairie's size and Prairie seemed to score at will early on. Unfortunately there really isn't much to talk about for Middleton so I'll focus more on Sun Prairie.

Sun Prairie didn't play their starters a ton so things were really spread out and no one player really dominated. 6'8 sophomore superstar Jalen Johnson picked up a third foul early in the second half and basically didn't play the rest of the way through. Johnson continues to impress me every time I see him play and he's truly a 6'8 guard but, sometimes I think he needs to use that size to score in the post. Johnson hit the three, has the fadeaway shot, handles the ball, and had his usual monster dunk. Johnson also had some nice assists to showcase some more of those guard skills. Fellow star 6'4 senior Marlon Ruffin didn't have a super impressive game as he didn't play monster minutes either but, the athletism is always very evident and he's a guy that can just flat out score and get to the rim. Up and coming point guard 6'0 sophomore Colin Schaefer also had a nice game with some impressive passes where he just dissected the Middleton defense. I really look forward to watch Schaefer progress along side Johnson. Schaefer also hit the open threes when the opportunity arises.

Sun Prairie won the game by 25 and it easily could of been much worse. I've already mentioned the top guys in the game so don't see reason to rewrite the exact same comments.

Box Score
Sun Prairie 65- Johnson 15 Ruffin 11 C Schaefer 9 Delware Hale 7 Alec Schaefer 6 Caden White 5 Rajai Williams 4 Taylor Jansen 3 Marty Strey 3 Brock Woigt 2 Brendan Wherley 0 Cooper Nelson 0 Tyler Precia 0 Orlando Fenderson 0 Alex Voigt 0 Daniel Hawk 0
Middleton 40- Jake Klubertanz 14 Joel Ticknor 5 Nick Michaels 5 Brian Vergenz 3 Alan Roden 3 Davis Roquet 3 Chann Bowman 3 Sam Close 3 Casey McKean 0 Chandon Thomas 0 Wyatt Wirkus 0 Jack Boyle 0 Ben Scher 0 Keegan Severn 0 Ryan Lewis 0

Everytime I see Sun Prairie play I come away very impressed and everything about them screams a state team. Johnson is already one of the best players in the state and Ruffin is at least a top 25 player. Middleton it's really hard to say what to expect going forward because they were just so short handed in this game and never really got things going. I do think things will be tough for them come playoff time.
