It's been a few days since the Border Battle but, first time I've really had the chance to get to a recap. I'll keep this short and sweet and won't get into things too detailed.
Desoto 38 Heritage Christian 27I got to this one late so I really wasn't into the game a whole lot. Desoto played a zone defense and Heritage couldn't penetrate it and settled for threes all game long and those threes didn't fall all game long. I hate to say it but, was a bit of a sleeper.
Stevens Point Pacelli 61 Spring Grove 48
The shooting of Pacelli guard 6'0 senior Cameron Cloud was the story in this one. Spring Grove couldn't seem to find him ever and felt like Cloud couldn't miss. Early on Spring Grove did a great job of feeding 6'6 senior Sam Sanness but, in the second half they seemed to of forgotten him. Both times I've watched Spring Grove they seem to panic when they get down late and just started firing threes that weren't good shots and made the score look worse then what it actually was.
Lake City 84 Prescott 77
This game was a ton of fun to watch as both teams went at each other all game long and it was right from the get go. Lake City senior 5'10 Marc Kjos made his first five three point shots but, he was matched time and again by super scorer 6'0 Prescott senior Petey Brookshaw. Brookshaw was everything he was advertised and was one of the more impressive players of the day. Both teams took a ton of threes throughout. In the second half Prescott sophomore 6'2 Parker Nielsen got going from the outside and he was matched by fellow sophomores on the other side in 6'3 Nathan Heise and 6'4 Reid Gastner. All three guys Kjos, Heise, and Gastner scored 20 plus for Lake City while Brookshaw knocked down 34 and Nielsen chipped in 16.
Kaukauna 122 Minneapolis North 107
Kaukauna jumped North from the get go and this game was basically a 20 point game throughout but, of course 6'0 senior Jordan McCabe made it interesting a fun too watch. North pushed the tempo and that played right into McCabe's hands. It felt like every shot Kaukauna took was a three and North had no intention of slowing things down. Kaukauna played a triangle and two defense and North couldn't hit the outside shots to get them out of that zone defense. North junior Nasir El'Amin got 39 points but, that was really only because Kaukauna let him get it and stopped everyone else. 6'2 eighth grader Trej Holloman was impressive to see and I'll be interested to see him in the future. 5'10 sophomore Keaton Ferris was money from the outside and he fed off of McCabe as did 6'5 senior Eric Carl who seems to have expanded his game this year. 6'8 Kaukauan senior Dylan Kurey also showed a nice touch from the outside as well.
Appleton Xavier 74 Minnetonka 59
Early on it looked like this might be the first lose of the season for Xavier as they seemed to struggle with Minnetonka's size and their threes weren't falling. Xavier limped to a first half lead of five but, in the second half things took off a bit. their senior guards 6'1 Hunter Plamann and 6'0 Sam Ferris got things going in the transition game and big man 6'5 senior Nate DeYoung was the one that got things going from the outside. Minnetonka really didn't have anyone that had a great game and the guy that I thought go do it 6'0 junior Jalen Dearring had 15 points but, didn't really look to control this game or try to take over.
La Crosse Central 65 North St Paul 60
For the life of me I can't remember much about this game. Early on for North St. Paul 6'6 senior Goodnews Knegeol was hitting the shots from the outside but, then he just kind of disappeared for a good portion of the game. Thankfully they had 5'11 junior Dajuan Carter off the bench you seemed to be that gunner off the bench that can just go out and score. Carter was huge carrying this team throughout. Late in the game Knegeol got it going a bit but, when they were down by three with under five seconds there was some confusion as an in bounds pass to Knegeol was take away by Carter who took the last second three that didn't fall and send to create a little controversy between team mates. Central was at their strength just driving to the lane and it was a team effort of their big four 6'7 sophomore Terrence Thomopson, 6'1 junior Noah Parcher, 6'5 Jordan Davis, and 6'5 Johnny Davis. The Davis twins led the way just driving the lane and using their athleticism to finish.
Minnehaha Academy 73 Stevens Point 68
The game of the day featuring the host team. I really thought Minnehaha would run away with this game but, point held with them behind the exceptional play of 6'3 senior Drew Blair. Blair was extremely expressive scoring at well. Whether Blair was handling the ball or moving without the ball Minnehaha had a hard time stopping him. Mark Miller has stated that Blair looks like an all state player and I'd be hard pressed to disagree. The game started off with 6'5 eighth grader Prince Aligbe grabbing an offensive rebounded and throwing it down hard that got the gym buzzing. Super star sophomore 6'4 Jalen Suggs was who everyone wanted to see and he didn't disappoint. Suggs started a little slow in the first half and had some sort of an abdomen injury that hampered him. In the second half he didn't show any signs of the injury and the threes started to fall and he was looking like an elite point guard finding his team mates and giving it to the crowd with the James Harden feed me and then a stare down of the crowd. Aligbe had another highlight when Suggs missed the lay up and Aligbe finished it off with the put back dunk and then let out the Kevin Garnett yell.
I've mentioned all the top players so I'm not going to go into that too much and it's late enough that I need to hit the bed. Tomorrow I'll be back with the Stoughton vs La Crosse Central write up from last night.

Top Dunks and Scorers
Well every time I have a new dunk and scorer and I feel I should up date the dunks and scoring.
Top Dunks
1. Trej Holloman 6'2 8th grader Minneapolis North vs Kaukauna January 27
Questionable if he actually finished the dunk but, that ball went in the hoop and his hand was on the rim. On a break away I thought we was just gonna lay it in but, I could see he was gathering himself to jump and 6'8 Kaukauna senior Dylan Kurey was trailing. Kurey went up to block the shot and ended up getting posterized by Holloman.
2. Prince Aligbe 6'5 8th grader Minnehaha Academy vs Stevens Point January 27
In a two point game with under three minutes left Minnehaha star Jalen Suggs drove a threw up the lay up which went long and Aligbe caught it and threw down the monster put back dunk to give them a four point leave. After the dunk Aligbe let out a Garnett type growl.
3. Prince Aligbe 6'5 8th grader Minnehaha Academy vs Stevens Point January 27
Within the first five minutes of the game Aligbe grabbed the offensive rebound and in one quick move went right back up and threw down the dunk and left everyone in aw right off the bat.
4. Terrence Thompson 6'7 sophomore La Crosse Central vs Stoughton January 30
I'm always partial to put back dunks and this one almost happened to quick to enjoy. Johnny Davis drove the lane and threw up a lay up that came off very hard but, Thompson was there for a very quick put back dunk as no one blocked him out. It was hard with authority and at a time when Stoughton was making a run.
5. Prince Aligbe 6'5 8th grader Minnehaha Academy vs Stoughton January 13
Maybe it's because he is an 8th grader but, he really had a great dunk. The guard drove the lane and found him on the left block and he threw down a power dunk over the Stoughton defender.
6. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Johnson caught the ball in transition one dribble to cut back to the middle to the court from the left side and threw it down over an East defender. This was very much a Giannis type dunk.
7. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School vs Caledonia January 13
Had a monster break away dunk where he nearly ripped the rim off. Had a trailer right behind him which I thought might foul him and he didn't even seem to notice the defender.
8. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Dunk came 30 seconds after the previous one. Was your normal break away dunk but, he cupped it with his right hand and threw it down right handed. This was also right after the crowd was riding him.
9. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie vs Madison Memorial December 16
Ruffin straight up picked the pocket of the Memorial ball handler and took the ball the length of the court and threw it down hard one handed.
10. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School vs Caledonia January 13
Another vicious dunk shortly after the other one. He really ripped the rim down again. Might be the best dunker in the state.

Top Dunks and Scorers
Had a long weekend watching the Boarder Battle so I have a lot to update for scorers and dunks of the year. Maybe I'm partial to seeing 8th graders dunking but, honestly they've been the most impressive dunks. I will try to follow up in the next few days on a recap of the day but, for now it'll just be update of the dunks and scorers.
Top Dunks

Maybe it's because he is an 8th grader but, he really had a great dunk. The guard drove the lane and found him on the left block and he threw down a power dunk over the Stoughton defender.
5. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Johnson caught the ball in transition one dribble to cut back to the middle to the court from the left side and threw it down over an East defender. This was very much a Giannis type dunk.
6. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School vs Caledonia January 13
Had a monster break away dunk where he nearly ripped the rim off. Had a trailer right behind him which I thought might foul him and he didn't even seem to notice the defender.

Ruffin straight up picked the pocket of the Memorial ball handler and took the ball the length of the court and threw it down hard one handed.
9. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School vs Caledonia January 13
Another vicious dunk shortly after the other one. He really ripped the rim down again. Might be the best dunker in the state.
10. Gabe Kalscheur 6'4 senior DeLaSalle vs Madison East January 6
Picked off the cross court pass and took it the length of the court and threw down a nice one handed dunk on the break. Then picked off another pass on the very next possession.

4. Prince Aligbe 6'5 8th grader Minnehaha Academy vs Stoughton January 13
Maybe it's because he is an 8th grader but, he really had a great dunk. The guard drove the lane and found him on the left block and he threw down a power dunk over the Stoughton defender.
7. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Dunk came 30 seconds after the previous one. Was your normal break away dunk but, he cupped it with his right hand and threw it down right handed. This was also right after the crowd was riding him.
8. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie vs Madison Memorial December 16
Ruffin straight up picked the pocket of the Memorial ball handler and took the ball the length of the court and threw it down hard one handed.

La Crosse Central over Tomah
Took a drive up to Tomah to get a chance to watch La Crosse Central play for the second time this year. Throw in the fact that Tomah had recent beaten some tougher top half teams in conference and I thought this had a chance to be a decent game.
The game was a decent game. Central didn't dominate this game by one bit and the final score of 69 to 52 is much worse then what the game actually was. Early on Central didn't have a ton going but, neither did Tomah. Probably the tipping point in the first half was the early foul trouble of Tomah big man 6'8 senior Josh Dahlke who picked up two early fouls and spent much of the first 10 minutes of the game on the bench. Dahlke's foul trouble allowed Central to really work it into their big man 6'7 sophomore Terrence Thompson. Thompson thrived in the first half catching the ball on the right block and then finishing going to his right. Even when Dahlke did come back in he didn't guard Thompson to avoid the third foul.Throw in a pair of threes from Central sharpshooter 5'10 junior David Hayden and that was most of Central's offense. On the other end Tomah was able to find their shooters in the corners and it seemed like each player on the court took their chance hitting a three.
In the second half Tomah looked like they were really going to push Central as their point guard 6'2 senior Kyle Kroener got going as he was able to drive to the right and finish or seemed to find himself wide open from three. Kroeners success teamed with Dahlke finally getting on the score board after going score less in the first half. For Central their super sophomore 6'5 twins Jordan and Johnny Davis got themselves going driving to the middle of the Tomah defense and finishing from mid range and in. It seemed like the Davis's played with a little more energy and they took turns hitting the jumper and then driving to the rim. Johnny was probably a little more aggressive on the two and found himself at the line a bit more. When things really got to crunch time Central turned the defense up a bit and Tomah turned the ball over and took some bad shots which led to some run outs by Central and caused the score to be where it was at the end.
Top Players
Terrence Thompson 6'7 sophomore LaCrosse Central- Really did a nice job of scoring in the post from that left block as I mentioned earlier. Really showed a nice touch in the post.
Johnny Davis 6'5 sophomore LaCrosse Central- Did a great job of just putting his head down and driving to the rim and scoring or getting fouled.
Kyle Kroener 6'2 senior Tomah- Central couldn't stop him going to his right also showed the ability to step back and hit the three as well.
Josh Dahlke 6'8 senior Tomah- I'd like to see him in the post a little more but, he did a good job of moving without the ball and playing off his team mates. Hit a nice three right in the face of Thompson.
Box Score
Central 69- Thompson 20 Joh Davis 16 Jor Davis 9 Hayden 9 Noah Parcher 8 De'Andre Davis 4 Brecken Auston 3 Clayton Phillips 0 Jacob Servais 0
Tomah 52- Kroener 23 Dahlke 14 Trevor Shutter 5 Peter Brey 4 Mason Brandt 3 Mason Gerke 3 Trey Gnewikow 0
Central deffinetly has a chance to make some noise come playoff time as far as a state run goes but, they could just as easily get upset early on. Central lacks the shooting you really need in the half court setting and if they can't get out and run their scoring really struggles. Tomah is on the other side a team that probably won't go to far in the playoffs but, they have a chance to upset a team or two.

Sun Prairie blasts Middleton
First time getting to see Middleton this year and unfortunately for them they were severely outmatched. This game was only going to get as bad as Sun Prairie wanted it to go. Middleton was missing their top scorer in 6'4 senior Brogan Brunker for whatever reason and one of their other top players with some size 6'5 senior Davis Roquet battled foul trouble and maybe played 10 minutes of game action. Middleton did their best to slow the game and hit some threes but. on the defensive end they just couldn't compete with Sun Prairie's size and Prairie seemed to score at will early on. Unfortunately there really isn't much to talk about for Middleton so I'll focus more on Sun Prairie.
Sun Prairie didn't play their starters a ton so things were really spread out and no one player really dominated. 6'8 sophomore superstar Jalen Johnson picked up a third foul early in the second half and basically didn't play the rest of the way through. Johnson continues to impress me every time I see him play and he's truly a 6'8 guard but, sometimes I think he needs to use that size to score in the post. Johnson hit the three, has the fadeaway shot, handles the ball, and had his usual monster dunk. Johnson also had some nice assists to showcase some more of those guard skills. Fellow star 6'4 senior Marlon Ruffin didn't have a super impressive game as he didn't play monster minutes either but, the athletism is always very evident and he's a guy that can just flat out score and get to the rim. Up and coming point guard 6'0 sophomore Colin Schaefer also had a nice game with some impressive passes where he just dissected the Middleton defense. I really look forward to watch Schaefer progress along side Johnson. Schaefer also hit the open threes when the opportunity arises.
Sun Prairie won the game by 25 and it easily could of been much worse. I've already mentioned the top guys in the game so don't see reason to rewrite the exact same comments.

Sun Prairie 65- Johnson 15 Ruffin 11 C Schaefer 9 Delware Hale 7 Alec Schaefer 6 Caden White 5 Rajai Williams 4 Taylor Jansen 3 Marty Strey 3 Brock Woigt 2 Brendan Wherley 0 Cooper Nelson 0 Tyler Precia 0 Orlando Fenderson 0 Alex Voigt 0 Daniel Hawk 0

Everytime I see Sun Prairie play I come away very impressed and everything about them screams a state team. Johnson is already one of the best players in the state and Ruffin is at least a top 25 player. Middleton it's really hard to say what to expect going forward because they were just so short handed in this game and never really got things going. I do think things will be tough for them come playoff time.

Third Round Player Rankings
Overall
1. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School- Best athlete I've seen this year. Can jump out of the gym and block shots or throw down a monster dunk. Handles the ball pretty well, runs like a deer, and he has a real pretty three point shot thats just soft.
2. Mitch Listau 6'5 senior Waunakee- Very smooth three point shooter that can get really hot and just won't miss. Also a very solid lead guard that can just flat out score.
3. Keshawn Justice 6'6 senior Madison East- Really had a tough time judging him this year. I've seen him play four times and twice he's been non existent and the other two times he's been amazing. When he's on he's a scoring machine and can get his shot off at any time typically it's knocking down the three or the fade away after a post up.
4. Gabe Kalscheur 6'4 senior Minneapolis DeLaSalle- Didn't have a great game do to the East defense. Looks like a D1 player withhis build and the ability to elevate and hit the outside shot and he's athletism allows him to play great defense and get out and run in the transition.
5. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie- Saw limited time but, it was pretty evident he's going to be an amazing player when he's at 100%. At 6'8 he players like a guard and moves like a guard. Once his outside shot is back therer's no stopping him.

10. Max Beuthin 6'4 sophomore Ripon- Really long guard that has some great body control. Does a nice job of driving the ball and pulling up for the mid range jumper over the defender. Doesn't need a lot of room to get his three point shot of or much time to get his feet.

Weekend Review
Once again I find myself behind on the post and will have to crunch two days into one. Friday night took it Badger South first place battle and then Saturday took in the Midwest Players Classic which is become one of the best showcases of the year.
Stoughton 82 Monona Grove 70
First chance to see undefeated Monona Grove and well they didn't come to play tonight. Stoughton jumped out to an early 12-0 lead and really shocked MG a bit. After that initial flury both teams played even throughout. The Stoughton guards severely out played the Monona Grove guards. 6'0 senior point guard Brady Schipper was unbelievable scoring 38 points and he just couldn't miss a shot. Schipper was hands down the best player on the court. MG did their best to pound the ball inside to 6'7 senior Jake Schroecenthaler but, he just didn't have it tonight and did have a nice scoring game but, most of his buckets game late. I really liked 6'4 senior Jimmy Thome for Grove as he isn't the most talented guy but, he plays with a ton of heart and hustle.
Bloomer 72 La Crosse Logan 71
Story of the game was Bloomer's 6'3 senior big man Payton Dachel. Dachel looks like a big time football recruit and has the soft hands. Early on Dachel got the taller Logan defenders in foul trouble and completely had his way. In the second half Logan doubled him every time and Dachel became the point guard out of the post. To finish the game Dachel hit a questionable three at the buzzer to give Bloomer the one point lead.
La Crosse Aquinas 64 Spring Grove MN 48
This game really surprised me as I had seen these two teams play a few times in the past and I knew Spring Grove has a solid program year in and year out. Aquinas has been down the last few years and has had a tought time competing in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Surprisingly Spring Grove wasn't a very deep team and didn't have the talent they've had in the past. In the first half 6'6 senior Randy Jacobson got in foul trouble and shot like 1-8 from the free throw line. In the second half Jacobson made a huge difference as he was able to play most of the half and he was 6-7 from the line. Early in the game I thought Jacobson might be a bit of a stiff but, he proved me wrong and was the difference in the win. Jacobson disrupted shots from Spring Grove and was able to score on the other side.
Caledonia MN 84 The Prairie School 66
Completely a tale of two halves here. In the first half the Prairie School looked like a top notch D4 team that was extremely talented and then they went to a 1-3-1 zone that really took over and JC Butler a 6'5 senior took over midway through the first half scoring 9 straight points including two monster dunks. Caledonia just hung around hung around and in the second half their disciplined took over the Prairie School panicked and completely fell apart and Caledonia was forcing turnover after turnover and they were converting on the other end. Caledonia started three King brothers in 6'3 senior Owen King, who can do it all and is just a super heady player to watch, 6'2 sophomore Noah King who is an undersized post player who can also do a little of everything like his brother, and then eighth grader 5'10 Eli King who is small and isn't quiet there yet but, you can see the ability is there. Both these teams have a great chance to make runs at state in their own individual states.
Minnehaha Academy MN 74 Stoughton 34
As you can see by the score this game just wasn't close. Stoughton didn't have the athletes to be in this game and they just couldn't get any easy shots and shot a horrible percentage in this game. Minnehaha's star 6'4 sophomore Jalen Suggs who didn't have a great game but, it just didn't matter today. Stoughton didn't have the athletes and Minnehaha did.
Waunakee 71 Stevens Point 54
Two good teams that play discipline basketball but, without Joey Hauser Stevens Point is just too short handed. This was a great one on one battle between a pair of seniors 6'5 Waunakee Mitch Listau and Stevens Point 6'3 Drew Blair. Listau did it more with the ball in his hands while Blair did it more moving without the ball. Point just didn't have enough help while Waunakee had some great three point shooting as a team. Huge shoot out to Waunakee's sixth man 6'5 junior Josh Cash. In my opinion Cash should be starting but, I think they like his scoring off the bench. Cash did a nice job of guarding Blair in the second half and slowing him down a bit and was able to do a bit of his own scoring on the offensive side.
La Crosse Central 57 Woodbury MN 51
Central had more talent in my opinion but, Woodbury was able to keep this game close with their three point shooting. Both teams played zones that really messed with the other teams offenses and this game was kind of ugly and tough to watch at time. Woodbury played the normal zone defense and Central just didn't have the shooters to bust the zone and they really weren't able to find that sweet spot in the middle of the zone. On the other side Central played a box and one defense on Woodbury's 6'5 senior Michael Jones. This seemed to frustrate Jones as he spent most of the time sitting in the corner and not really fighting to get open. This zone also hurt Centrals offense because they didn't rebound great out of the zone and they weren't forcing turnovers. From what I heard from other people around me Central is a team that thrives on the uptempo game and they weren't forcing the turnovers to get the easy buckets.
Well that's a quick recap of the weekend. Was a great Saturday of games and hopefully will have a few more Saturday showcases coming up in the near future.

Top Dunks and Scorers
Top Dunks
1. Prince Aligbe 6'5 8th grader Minnehaha Academy vs Stoughton January 13
Maybe it's because he is an 8th grader but, he really had a great dunk. The guard drove the lane and found him on the left block and he threw down a power dunk over the Stoughton defender.
2. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Johnson caught the ball in transition one dribble to cut back to the middle to the court from the left side and threw it down over an East defender. This was very much a Giannis type dunk.
3. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School vs Caledonia January 13
Had a monster break away dunk where he nearly ripped the rim off. Had a trailer right behind him which I thought might foul him and he didn't even seem to notice the defender.
4. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Dunk came 30 seconds after the previous one. Was your normal break away dunk but, he cupped it with his right hand and threw it down right handed. This was also right after the crowd was riding him.
5. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie vs Madison Memorial December 16
Ruffin straight up picked the pocket of the Memorial ball handler and took the ball the length of the court and threw it down hard one handed.
6. JC Butler 6'5 senior The Prairie School vs Caledonia January 13
Another vicious dunk shortly after the other one. He really ripped the rim down again. Might be the best dunker in the state.
7. Gabe Kalscheur 6'4 senior DeLaSalle vs Madison East January 6
Picked off the cross court pass and took it the length of the court and threw down a nice one handed dunk on the break. Then picked off another pass on the very next possession.
8. Jack Brohm 6'4 senior Nicolet vs Waunakee January 6
Picked up a loose ball and took the ball the length of the court on the two on one break and threw it down hard with two hands in transition as the Waunakee defender stepped out of the way.
9. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Was basically the same dunk as the other but, it this one the ball just found him in the open and threw it down hard again.
10. Tristan Welchlin 6'5 senior Royal vs Bangor January 9
Was at huge moment of the game. Wasn't overally impressive but, with the moment of the game it was huge and a nice little two handed dunk.

Second Round Player Rankings
Well decided that it was time for another round of my player rankings. Have seen quiet a few new players play and some of the guys I've seen a second time things have changed.
Overall
1. Mitch Listau 6'5 senior Waunakee- Very smooth three point shooter that can get really hot and just won't miss. Also a very solid lead guard that can just flat out score.
3. Gabe Kalscheur 6'4 senior Minneapolis DeLaSalle- Didn't have a great game do to the East defense. Looks like a D1 player withhis build and the ability to elevate and hit the outside shot and he's athletism allows him to play great defense and get out and run in the transition.
4. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie- Saw limited time but, it was pretty evident he's going to be an amazing player when he's at 100%. At 6'8 he players like a guard and moves like a guard. Once his outside shot is back therer's no stopping him.
5. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie- Just a superior athlete on the court and can get his shot at any time. Can really jump out of the gym. Does a little bit of everything and when he wants to can be a shut down defender.
6. Donneil Gray 5'9 junior Madison La Follette- Flat out scorer. Despite his size can get his shot off at any time. Really shoots the three well and can get to the bucket at any time. Super super quick player.
7. Max Beuthin 6'4 sophomore Ripon- Really long guard that has some great body control. Does a nice job of driving the ball and pulling up for the mid range jumper over the defender. Doesn't need a lot of room to get his three point shot of or much time to get his feet.
8. Mason Steffen 6'4 senior Waunakee- Solidly built kid that can get out in transition and finish. Also has a nice little mid range shot.
9. Mason Peterson 6'3 senior Baraboo- Another flat out scorer that can get to the rim and finish. Can knock down the spot up three as well.
10. Datrill Thompson 5'7 senior Madison East- Ultra quick guard that can really handle the ball. In the game I saw there was no one that could stay in front of him. Really does a nice job of driving the lane and finishing over bigger defenders.

Tyrell Terry 6'2 junior Minneapolis DeLaSalle vs Madison East January 6 -
1. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Johnson caught the ball in transition one dribble to cut back to the middle to the court from the left side and threw it down over an East defender. This was very much a Giannis type dunk.
2. Jalen Johnson 6'8 sophomore Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Dunk came 30 seconds after the previous one. Was your normal break away dunk but, he cupped it with his right hand and threw it down right handed. This was also right after the crowd was riding him.
3. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie vs Madison Memorial December 16
Ruffin straight up picked the pocket of the Memorial ball handler and took the ball the length of the court and threw it down hard one handed.
4. Gabe Kalscheur 6'4 senior DeLaSalle vs Madison East January 6
Picked off the cross court pass and took it the length of the court and threw down a nice one handed dunk on the break. Then picked off another pass on the very next possession.
5. Jack Brohm 6'4 senior Nicolet vs Waunakee January 6
Picked up a loose ball and took the ball the length of the court on the two on one break and threw it down hard with two hands in transition as the Waunakee defender stepped out of the way.
6. Marlon Ruffin 6'4 senior Sun Prairie vs Madison East December 21
Was basically the same dunk as the other but, it this one the ball just found him in the open and threw it down hard again.
7. Tristan Welchlin 6'5 senior Royal vs Bangor January 9
Was at huge moment of the game. Wasn't overally impressive but, with the moment of the game it was huge and a nice little two handed dunk.

Week Recap
I find myself getting further and further behind in posting about the recent games I've seen so decided to do a quick write up of the past few days as I've seen six and a half games in the last five days. I'll keep it write up fairly short which just a paragraph about each game. I lost my score sheet from the swingfam shoot out so I'll have to do my best on those games. Kind of a disappointment.
Madison East 60 Madison La Follette 57
This was a tremendous game that had a ton of intensity and crowd involvement. La Follette is incredibly undersized with only two guys over six foot in the rotation. Fa Follette had the star in 5'9 junior Donneil Gray who had 21 points but, it really was a team effort on the part of East. Huge shout out to 6'2 Justin Mielke who got what I think was his first start as he had 11 big points to lead a team effort as everyone chipped in to get this win. In the end I think La Follette's height doomed them as the had to continuely settled for jump shots and they stopped falling midway through the first half and just couldn't continue to make their shots.
Minneapolis DeLaSalle 74 Madison East 70
East got a huge challenge in powerhouse DeLaSalle but, unfortunately East didn't get much outside of their top three players. 6'6 senior Keshawn Justice was his normal dominating self on his way to 25 points hitting the threes while 6'0 senior Earl Lewis and 6'3 sophomore Keonte Jones did the slashing to the rim scoring in the paint. East played a box and one on DeLasalle star 6'4 senior Gabe Kalscheur who will be at Minnesota next year. The zone defense worked well but, in the second half I think East got a little lazy and Kalscheur had a huge second half. Wisconsin Badger coach Greg Gard was their to watch point guard 6'2 junior Tyrell Terry who had a solid game but, I question if he's a high major D1 talent. DeLaSalle dominated the inside and controlled the glass on both ends and that led to the Islanders getting the win.
Mosinee 74 Columbis 64
Only caught the end of this one. Mosinee was up 20 and just kind of cruised to the finish line.
Waunakee 74 Nicolet 65
This was the classic game of the more disciplined team beating the more athletic team. Nicolet had the height advantage and the speed but, they didn't have the shooting or the ability to stop 6'5 senior Mitch Listau. Listau was on fire for Waunakee and Nicolet had no one to match him. Nicolet really didn't look to use their size advantage and Waunakee did the job of boxing out.
Lake Mills 71 Madison Edgewood 55
Boy Mills can really shoot the three ball and love to push the tempo. The two classic things for undersized teams. Basically Lake Mills plays five guards at all times. Edgewood just doesn't have a go to scorer and the talent seems a little bare. Of course their star 6'5 senior Mandela Daeng didn't play though.
Lakeside Lutheran 61 Ripon 58
Best game of the day by far. Was a battle through out as the game was within five points throughout. Early on Lutheran's big man 6'6 junior Cameron Paske had his way on the inside before 6'1 junior Will DeNoyer got going from the outside. 6'4 sophomore Max Beuthin had a monster game hitting the jumpers. Beuthin could get his shoot off at anytime even when the defender was right in his face. Beuthin had the shoot at the buzzer but, couldn't get the shot to fall.
Bangor 66 Royal 56
Game was all about Bangor. Early on they struggled shooting the ball and missed a ton of bunny shots and got in some foul trouble. In the second half Bangor star 6'0 senior Luke Reader got himself going hitting the outside shot and then they were able to pound the ball inside to their big men who had the size advantage in height and bulk. Royal got a nice game from senior guard 5'10 Jayden Enzenbacher who hit five threes in the game, and 6'5 senior Tristan Welchin who used his quickness to score in the paint. In the second half Royal was really unable to get the ball inside or forgot about it and settled for the outside threes that weren't falling.

Week 6 Rankings
Well the holiday break has come to an end and this just means that we will begin to have a better idea of who the top teams are. Holiday break means holiday tournaments and a chance to see some of the top teams from around the state play each other. Some teams will see some drops and other teams showed that they deserve their top billings.

Madison Memorial lost to a team from Georgia which I of course don't hold against them. Brookfield Central lost to #1 Oshkosh North and even though I don't like it I feel that I have to drop them to just 12. Sussex Hamilton lost a game to Kettle Moraine who replaced them in the rankings at 15. After relooking at Kimberly's season decided they needed to move up but, couldn't see moving them way up even though I think that they should and climb to 11.
