Division One Tournament Predictions

With the state tournament less then a week away I figure I would give my picks for who would make it to state, who would win state, and other teams that I could see making state. In each bracket I will break down by pick to win, the top contenders that I wouldn't be surprised to see make it, and then my darkhorses or long shots.

Stevens Point Sectional
My Pick
Oshkosh North- Won the Fox Valley Association which automatically puts them as the team to beat. Recently defeated Neenah who was my pick to make state a couple weeks ago.

Contenders
Superior- Have had a great regular season but, wouldn't be the first time that they had a great season and then laid an egg come playoff time.

Stevens Point- Were undefeated until having lost two games late in the year.

Neenah- Like I said a couple weeks ago they were my pick to get to state.

DC Everest- Mark Miller has them losing to in the sectional final so that's good enough to me.

Darkhorses
Marshfield- Defeated Stevens Point late in the year.

Appleton West- This was the preseason pick to make state and they have a lot of talent. If they could put it all together they really could make a deep run.

Homestead Sectiona
Pick
Germantown- Their the defending state champs. Have a ton of talent and have been #1 throughout the entire season.

Contenders
De Pere- Have lost only two games in state and have defeated some very good teams.

Sheboygan North- Have the great record.

Arrowhead- Really a talented team that has been battle tested all year long.

Hamilton- Have lost only one game this year and just seem to play together really well.

Darkhorses
Homestead- They really do have a ton of talent if they can just put it all together.

Bay Port- Beat De Pere early in the year and have really been tested as well.

Sun Prairie Sectional
Pick
Sun Prairie- Memorial seems to be reallying and Sun Prairie has the two best players in this sectional.

Contenders
Madison Memorial- They have been to state nine straight years. Hard to imagine them not being there. Split with Sun Prairie during the season.

Mukwonago- Have a great record and are a very fundamentally sound team and is very strong on the inside.

Darkhorses
There really isn't anyone else.

Racine Sectional
Pick
Milwaukee Vincent- There a very deep team with solid guard play and have the size to battle bigger teams.

Contender
Milwaukee King- Have tremendous guard play, have the history, and one of the top coaches in the state.

Milwaukee Hamilton- Have the best player in the state but, lost two games this year once to King and once to Vincent.

Brookfield Central- Have played some big time competition and played them tough. Riley Lachance is a big time player

Racine Case- A very deep and quick team with tremendous guard play.

Darkhorses
Milwaukee Marquette- A very disciplined team that plays great defense and are also very deep.

Final Four
Germantown over Oshkosh North

Milwaukee Vincent over Sun Prairie

Championship
Germantown over Milwaukee Vincent

Well there you have it. My state champ is Germantown. I just think they are deeper and bigger then any other team in the state. Next year I'm taking Milwaukee Hamilton but, this will be a repeat year for Germantown.
