NCAA Day 1 Tournament Thoughts

With the NCAA tournament starting today I figured talking about the tournament might be a better topic then the my all whatever high school teams, which can wait until the beginning of next week. Due to having to work (note to self take the first two days of March Madness of next year) I missed all the day games but, will still give some of my thoughts of what I saw from the first day. Right now I'm currently only gotten one game wrong so far, which doesn't say much because probably 80% of people that filled out brackets are probably doing that well.

Georgia looked like they were going to keep the tournament run alive but, Xavier was able to come back and get the win. With Xavier struggling like they did in the first game I'm sticking with Purdue taking down Xavier in the second round.

The first big upset nearly occurred as Belmont and Duke went right to the wire before the game was decided. Belmont was able to run and gun with Duke all night long and gave even more reason to believe that Duke will be making an early exit as many people have predicted. Would not be shocked at all to see Duke get beaten by either West Virginia or Arizona. The winner of that second round game will probably make the elite eight with ease and then give UCLA a pretty good game for the final four.

Kansas State was very impressive in their win tonight as their star Michael Beasley was in foul trouble for much of the game which limited his production. Beasley still got his double double but, it was Bill Walker that was the difference as he scored 17 first half points. If Walker keeps up that and Beasley is his normal self they could really give Wisconsin some problems, who is struggling a bit right now. Badgers are up 28-24 with about two minutes left in the game. Right now the Badgers are turning the ball over and the big guys are having problems sticking with the smaller quicker Cal State Fullerton players. On the other side those bigs are using their size to dominate the boards and get a lot of second chance points. I'm getting alittle worried now as its a two point game with a minute left in the half.

Should be another great day of basketball tomorrow and I should have much more to talk about, if work doesn't get in the way too much.
