State Predictions

With the state tournament starting in just two days here are my predictions for state. I will only go into D1 deeper while just making mention of the other four divisions.


Division One
UW Whitewater Sectional

Madison Memorial

Milwaukee Marquette

All year long I had Madison Memorial going to state and possibly even winning state but, they just have struggled against teams that they should be beating easily all year long. In the end my common sense over took my gut and I went with Milwaukee King. King has the coaching and the history of going to state and have a talent team and have already beaten Memorial handily. Riverside has the best record and will probably be alot of people's picks but, I'm just not sure this is their year and might lose to King in a rematch. Sun Prairie has the talent to get to state but, just haven't brought it night in and night out. Marquette was at state a year ago and state last year and still have their top two players back.

Hamilton was hurt hard when Elgin Cook but, I think they have a coach that will pull them together and have the most talent. This is the one sectional that doesn't have a clear cut winner and anyone of the top six teams could win this sectional.

East has been number one nearly the entire season and they are undefeated. Germantown has lost only one game and Arrowhead only two and they both have very tough schedules. Waukesha West has been a top 15 team most of the year and Rapids has only lost one game but, I just don't think they see the same competition night in and night out that the other teams see. Oshkosh North is an athletic team that has beaten some very good teams.
