Wisconsin Dells beats Adams Friendship

Friday night Wiscosin Dells was able to take down Adams Friendship in a slow paced defensive battle. The Dells win teamed with the Mauston lose has more then likely sealed the South Central Conference title for the Chiefs. These two teams really don't resemble the recent Dells vs Adams match ups. Neither team is as talented as the past and the Dells is a one man team which they've never been and Adams looks to score much more then in years past and don't even play their 1-3-1 defense. This game though looked like one of their low scoring match ups of the past as the Chiefs defeated the Green Devils 40-31 behind solid defense and a balanced scoring attack.

Dells jumped out early knocking down the three point shot. When the long range shots weren't dropping big man 6'9 junior Nate Gibson was creating problems on the inside getting rebounds or create space which allowed his teammates to get the rebound. In the second quarter Dells really went back in time with the stall tactic holding the ball at half court and forcing Adams to come out and guard the Chiefs far from the baskets. Solid defense and a little bit of stalling caused the half time score to be in the Dells favor 23-15.

In the second half the game pretty much remained the same low scoring and some pretty solid defense. Adams couldn't expose their size advantage on the inside and Dells was content to let the clock run down on the offensive side. Adams star 6'1 senior Lance Fritz did finally get things going in the second half scoring the majority of his 13 points in the second half. There really wasn't much to report on this game as their wasn't a lot of scoring and despite the game being so close it just wasn't the exciting of a game.

Top Players
Jimmy Alvin 5'11 senior Wisconsin Dells- Came out early gunning knocking down the three point shot and hitting the shots when they were there.
Nate Gibson 6'9 junior Wisconsin Dells- Did a great job of creating space and creating rebounds for himself or teammates.
Lance Fritz 6'1 senior Adams Friendship- Got his mid range shot going as long as the ability to get to the free throw line where he was able to connect.

Box Score
Wisconsin Dells 40- Jade Royston 9 Michael Morse 8 Alvin 8 Gibson 6 Bobby Blaschke 5 Justin Ward 4 Kyle Stowers 0
Adams Friendship 31- Fritz 13 Cameron Niera 7 Bryce Wormet 6 Kincaid Hodkiewicz 3 Floyd Linsey 2 Cody Paepke 0 Tony Kuchta 0 #12 0

This game showed that both of these teams don't have a lot of depth. As both teams rotation only consisted of seven man rotations. I was hoping to see a more aggressive 6'5 junior Bryce Wormet for Adams but, he appeared to be very similar to last years Wormet and wasn't aggressive enough specially on the inside. For the Dells it was nice to see them get a win where their star 6'0 Jade Royston didn't have to score 20 points and it they appear to look stronger and stronger every time I see them. I'm very interested to see the Dells when a very strong River Valley team comes to town.
